"DEAR MISS HERZ"
Ida Herz, a Jewish bookseller, was Thomas Mann's first archivist and his most loyal admirer. In turn, the famous author shared deeply personal thoughts with her and even portrayed her in Doctor Faustus. Over 400 letters document this extraordinary friendship, which ultimately ended in bitter disappointment. This is Thomas Mann's last unpublished correspondence, now brought to light by Holger Pils, head of the Munich Lyrik Kabinett and board member of the German Thomas Mann Society (published by S. Fischer).

"THOMAS MANN: A LIFE"
An Evening with Tilmann Lahme
Nobel laureate and celebrated genius, Thomas Mann is the literary magician of the 20th century. Tilmann Lahme (Leuphana University Lüneburg) recounts the life story of "the magician" as it has never been told before, offering new insights and unpublished sources, including unknown diary entries, letters to his closest childhood friend, and Susan Sontag’s recently discovered essay On Thomas Mann. Lahme provides a long-awaited comprehensive portrait of "the whole Thomas Mann" in the context of his time (published by dtv).
