"Get involved, it’s your Earth," Erika boldly declares to her audience in Die Pfeffermühle, ironically supported by Therese, the star of her cabaret: "And if there’s war, well, then there must be war. After all, the industry has to keep going." Their joint credo condemns war and Nazism, an appeal to reason and reflection that couldn’t be more relevant today.

Following an introduction to Die Pfeffermühle in Germany and in exile, the fascinating lives of Erika and Therese will be explored with rich visuals. Their shared experiences, differences, and the major challenges of the 20th century will be brought to life.

The speaker, Dr. Dieter Strauss, has curated two exhibitions about the Mann family and authored three books on this "amazing family."
